It’s no secret that Dogs & Cats love plush toys. They enrich their lives, provide mental stimulation, and help create an avenue of decompression after stressful situations. Our Nautical Collection is our latest and greatest addition to the plush dog & cat toys we have available at Furhaven. We designed these nautical-themed toys with your dogs and cats in mind; including thoughtful details like RuffStuff Reinforcement, squeakers, stimulating crinkle textures, and soft fabrics purr-fect for paws, chins, and snouts. FurHaven's Newest Dandies Plush Dog Toys: Finn Otter and Davey Puffin

The Furhaven Dandies are a collection of cute dog toys with quirky personalities that make perfect pals for your pups. Our latest Dandies belong to our Nautical-themed Dog & Cat Toys: Finn Otter and Davey Puffin. Previous Dandies family members include our Woodland Collection and our Galactic Collection, cute dog toys that make great collector's items. While plush toys tend to have a bad rap for their durability, we went above and beyond our competitors by using our RuffStuff Reinforcement to help them last longer during playtime.

Kraken The Vampire Squid Dog Toy

While at sea, Davey and Finn befriended a deep see vampire squid named Kraken. They’re built slightly differently from Finn and Davey, having soft plush tentacles filled with crinkling material to mimic the rustling of prey. Irresistible to dogs on the hunt! By far Kraken has been a favorite for pups here at Furhaven HQ, dogs of all sizes have loved this crinkle plush toy, shaking it vigorously back and forth, or chewing Kraken’s head and tentacles.

How To Use Plush Dog Toys To Train Dogs

Plush Dog Toys are a critical component of a holistic training program. Our Dandies were designed for this, and so was Kraken, our third member of our Nautical Collection. High-value rewards like toys are great for dogs when in high-stress environments, as the higher the stimulus, the higher the reward you need to break their fixation. Our Dandies Finn and Davey, plus Kraken the vampire squid, all have irresistible squeakers in them, but Kraken also has crinkle paper in their tentacles which make wonderful noises when your pup shakes them back and forth. When your pup isn’t so interested in that kibble treat anymore, try using Kraken to distract them on your walk from the squirrel which just darted across the walkway. For working breed dogs who need a job, carrying Finn, Davey, or Kraken on the walk is a good task to assign and provide mental stimulation to your pup.

Are Plush Dog Toys Good For My Dog?

Dogs and cats absolutely love plush toys, and we have done our best to reinforce these new Nautical toys with our RuffStuff Reinforcement. It is important to note that no plush toy is indestructible and Furhaven recommends supervising your dogs and cats while they play with their new toy. We recommend all of Furhaven’s plush dog toys for light to moderate chewers, and care should be taken to understand the chewing and play pattern of your dogs and cats.

The last, but certainly not least, family members of our nautical plush toy collection are Coral and Kelp, our catnip plush sea slug toys. They have velcro pouches you can fill with catnip, we recommend SmartyKat Brand, to add a fresh scent and stimulating smells to these fun cat toys. They include our RuffStuff reinforcement for kitties who like to bite down hard on toys or kick them from the edge of the table to the other side of the room. Can I Put Dog & Cat Toys In The Washing Machine?

The beauty of our Nautical plush dog & cat toys is they are easy to clean. When Finn Otter, Davey Puffin, Coral & Kelp, or Kraken the vampire squid get dirty you can put them right into your washing machine to make them look brand new. Each have special care instructions so please refer to the tag they came with. Make sure you remove any catnip from Coral & Kelp to avoid disaster!
